Each month students at the Northeast campus participate in a family project and Earth Day was the assignment for April.
Students throughout the campus worked with family members to create posters celebrating Mother Earth. Students love the opportunity to showcase their creativity and for this project they produced posters that focused on recycling and reusing.
PreK students, meanwhile, celebrated Earth Day by creating terrariums. Each one created a closed environment for a plant with water, soil and rocks.
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970 and now is coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network. The Earth Day founder was Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, Calif., according to the network.
