Message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for choosing The Varnett Public School as your school of choice. This year will be one in which we all have to exercise patience and flexibility.

We know that as we launch remote learning for the 2020-2021 school year, there will be some hiccups. If you have trouble with logging on or getting access codes. I encourage you to immediately contact your child’s teacher or call the IT support number (713) 667-4051.

We have also launched Parent Square as a means of communicating with a large group of parents or individuals. You may also continue to contact us through our social media apps or a phone call to or email to me, the Director, or your child’s teacher.

Dr. Stroud: "We are ready" (Video)

Our goal for the first three weeks are:

  • Ensure every student has access to the internet.
  • Ensure every student has a device to log into Google Classroom.
  • Ensure that we have contacted every student enrolled at Varnett for the 2020-2021 school year.
  • Provide breakfast and lunch each day for the first week, and two days per week until September 30, 2020.

Beginning October 5, students whose parents selected face-to-face learning for the remainder of the six weeks will be allowed on campus unless conditions are not safe. Student transportation will begin on this date as well.

Thank you, parents, for getting your children up, fed, and ready to learn each day at 8:00 a.m. We appreciate you.

I am looking forward to a great school year with the cooperation and collaboration of parents, students and staff.

Dr. Margaret Stroud
