Spring 2021 STAAR Testing Announcement

Elementary & Middle School Students

 STAAR/ STAAR ALTERNATE 2

All students are encouraged to come to campus on their assigned testing date to take their state assessment(s). State assessments cannot be administered remotely (at home); It is important that we know exactly where each student is in the learning process so that we can plan for next year.

A student’s participation in this year’s STAAR administrations supports the district’s continued efforts to provide the most effective instruction to ensure each child excels in reading, math, writing, science and social studies. The results will support the classroom teacher in providing targeted acceleration of skills the student has mastered or remediation of skills that the student has yet to achieve.

All students (not quarantined) will be offered the opportunity to come to campus to take their STAAR test(s) during the testing windows. The Varnett Public School is not requiring/forcing any remote student to come test, but in compliance with TEA, will offer the opportunity for all students to test.

Transportation

Transportation will be offered for remote students to come to campus for testing. The parent/guardian will need to complete the STAAR 2021 Transportation form (see below) in order for Varnett to provide services. Please note that transportation is available on a first-come, first-serve basis as COVID-19 protocols will be enforced.

Food Services

Breakfast and lunch will be offered for students who come to campus for testing. The parent/guardian will need to complete the STAAR 2021 Breakfast and Lunch form (see below) in order to ensure quantities of breakfast and lunch are accurate.

Make-ups

If a student is quarantined on his/her assigned testing date, the campus will work directly with the student to schedule make-up testing.
