Students today will start taking the new State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR™). The testing at grades 3–8 will assess the same subjects and grades that were assessed assessed on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), according to the Texas Education Agency’s website.
The following is the STAAR testing calendar:
March 27 (Tuesday) – Grade 4 Writing (English and Spanish) Day 1; Grade 5 Mathematics (English and Spanish)
March 28 (Wednesday) Grade 4 Writing (English and Spanish) Day 2; Grade 5 Reading (English and Spanish)
April 24 (Tuesday) – Grades 3-4 Mathematics (English and Spanish)
April 25 (Wednesday) – Grades 3-4 Reading (English and Spanish)
April 26 (Thursday) – Grade 5 Science (English and Spanish)
