From knowing no English to speaking the language fluently

Jennifer Pineda, a Northeast student who received her fifth-grade diploma last week, says she didn't know a bit of English when she enrolled at Varnett as a third grader. Jennifer now speaks the language fluently. Listen as she tells her story in Spanish, and then English, during the fifth-grade promotion exercise at The Fellowship of Enlightenment Church. She credits her teachers and Varnett's application of the Rosetta Stone language program for her success.

Ms. Yolanda Valadez, Northeast's bilingual teacher assistant, was in attendance at the promotion, shed a tear and posed with Jennifer for a picture (at right).
