Message from the Superintendent

August 2023

Dear Vamett Family:

Welcome back! I'm so excited to begin the 2023-24 school year and hope you are too. Our theme for the new school year is: We are Varnett-Honoring the Past and Reimagining the Future! You will continue to hear me use those words a lot as we reimagine the future of our Varnett school community. We must reimagine all of the possibilities for our students to ensure they are prepared for our ever changing world.

We must reimagine our curriculum as we implement our new Eureka Math and PH.D Science programs to strengthen our core instruction and focus on our instructional priorities and results.

We must reimagine our interventions as we implement the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) process to ensure strong core instruction and interventions for all students at tier I, II and III, behaviorally and academically. Each campus will implement PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Systems) so that we can ensure all staff members are speaking the same language, hence students will understand what is expected of them as we build positive school environments where everyone can thrive.

We must reimagine our facilities as we embark on the journey of building new schools for all of our campuses. These facilities will be equipped with state of the art classrooms, flexible space, labs and multi-purpose rooms.

As we travel on this path towards greatness, remember to remain focused on our mission so that we are living and exemplifying the Varnett vision---Excellence in all things!

This school year will bring many changes that will hopefully be reflective of what we reimagine Varnett to become. I hope you "stay the course" as we take this journey. I wish you much success as we begin an incredible new school year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Nita White
